Respect Your Elders

Oldest, age 12, and her scout troop visited the local Armory. They try to perform plenty of service projects that are actually meaningful. Today are serving meals for a group of veterans preparing for an Honor Flight. I texted and asked her what she thought about these guys and how they served the country.

Her response:”They allow smoking in here. Bleh.”

Break Dancing

Daughter, 12: “Break Dancing… Is that when you flop on the ground and do crazy crap and spin on your head, all while crappy music plays in the background and guys stand
around and make noises with their mouths, like psst psst psst psst psst?”

Me: (Stunned silence)

Me: “Yes. You pretty much nailed it.”

School Book Fair

I-Can-Read book at school book fair: $3.99.

Minecraft book: $6.99.

Adventure Time graphic novel: $9.99.

All three kids happily (and silently) reading in the car for an hour… PRICELESS.

Yes, the fact you couldn’t afford them when you were a kid IS TOTALLY a valid reason to buy books for your kids. Even when the house is full of books.

I mean… It’s Books, right? Books.
