Little Miss Thing, age 7: (holding plush rabbit) “Mr. Flops loves you, Daddy.”
Me: “How is my Grand-Bunny today?”
LMT: “He’s not your grandchild. I got him from the shelter.”
Me: “If you adopted him and love him, then he’s most definitely my grandchild, and I love him all the same.”
LMT: “Hug attack!” (throws bunny in my face)
LMT: “Sorry. He’s just happy to have a family.”
IT HAS BEEN RELEASED !!!
I repeat… IT HAS BEEN RELEASED !!!
We are back at Grandpa’s house, resting and grateful to be free.
Thank you Jebus!
And big thanks to all of you for putting up with my whining, and for all the support and well wishes.
Now… about that little 12-hour drive back to Indiana tomorrow…
Me: “Kids, your mother and I are going out for dinner and a movie.”
Little Miss Thing, age 5: “I’ll be in charge while you’re gone.”
Danger Monkey, age 8: “Hey! Why do you get to be in charge?”
LMT: “Because if I’m in charge, everyone gets to eat ice cream.”
DM: “OK, you can be in charge.”
Me: “You show solid leadership skills kiddo, but actually Grandpa will be in charge.”
LMT (loud whisper): “We still get ice cream.”
