Make me

Me: “OK, buckle up so we can go home.”

Little Miss Thing, age 5: “You can’t make me.”

Me: “Pardon me?”

LMT: “You can’t make me do it – if I’m already doing it.”

Me: “I guess that’s true.”

LMT: “I do things on my own.”

Me: “Yes… Yes you do.”

Disney Daily

Little Miss Thing, age 5: “When I grow up, I will go to Disney World every day.”

Me: ” Is that so?”

LMT: “Yes. You’ll say ‘Time for school today’ and I’ll say ‘No, I’m going to Disney World today.’ And then I’ll go.”

Boss Of Me

My Oldest, age 13: “I think… Yes… You need to move those boxes.”

Me: “I think… Yes… You are bossy.”

Oldest: “Yes. Have you met me? Now quiet down so you can hear my instructions better.”

Presented as evidence in case anyone thought Little Miss Thing had fallen too far from the tree.

I think we’re raising a couple of very confident young women, and this giant Viking dad couldn’t be prouder.
